Terminations and Separations
Terminations, separations, lay-offs, etc. They are painful and no one likes them. We have found that it is most important that the decision and implementation be done in a way that is respectful, clear, compliant with employment laws, and as non-disruptive to the company’s operations as possible. Before we accept an engagement for termination assistance, we study the situation and determine whether we are the best resource. If we agree to engage, here are some of the steps we take to minimize risks.
- We walk with you through the decision by reviewing documents, discussing risks, timing, and team impact.
- We work with you to develop a process that is respectful for the employee and effective for the company. This includes developing needed agreements and scripts. We are available to be on-site with you when the conversation occurs, and immediately following.
- We assist you with the follow-up period, which is crucial. Our third-party handling of the post-termination interaction keeps the interaction and conversations private and confidential, allowing the employer to continue working with less disruption.
- We partner with attorneys and outplacement organizations when appropriate.
